NORWALK, Conn. A Norwalk mother, her right arm in a sling, told Norwalk Police Wednesday that she was in fear for her and her children's life. Her husband has threatened to kill them, she said, and he had held a gun to her head before.
Pedro Hernandez, 44, of 38 Bouton St. was arrested and charged with strangulation in the third degree, assault third degree, injury/risk/impairing morals and threatening second degree. Bond was $100,000.
The 39-year-old mother said her shoulder had been dislocated during an argument on Aug. 10 when Hernandez pushed her against the corner of the counter in her kitchen and she fell, according to the affadavit. She said that because she was afraid, she told Norwalk Hospital emergency room doctors that she had fallen. She later confided to a social worker at Norwalk Community Health that the problem was domestic abuse, according to police.
Hernandez is a heavy drinker, she said, and targets one child in particular for abuse. She said he choked the child after pushing her.
The abuse is constant, she said, and Hernandez allegedly owns five guns. He has said, "I will kill you all. I will happily go to jail, I won't have to pay bills and I will get free food. I will kill you like my cousin killed his wife."
