Norwalk Holds Household Hazardous Waste Day

NORWALK, Conn. -- The City of Norwalk’s Household Hazardous Waste Day is being held on Saturday Sept. 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Norwalk High School, 23 Calvin Murphy Dr. (County St).

Please have driver’s license or vehicle registration readily available. This program is for residential only with no commercial or business loads accepted.

Household hazardous waste could include: gasoline, auto care products, oil-based, alkyd and latex paints, stains, thinners, spray paints, insect killer, weed killer, fungicides (rose dust), chemical fertilizer, garden lime, cleaners, polishes, mercury thermometers, pet care products, pool chemicals. Motor oil and antifreeze are not accepted.

Norwalk residents only, bring to the Norwalk transfer station electronics, or cooking oil. 

For ammunition, flares, or explosives call the Norwalk Police Dept (203-854-3000). For asbestos contact the Connecticut State Health Dept. or CT DEEP CFL. For bulbs, please dispose unbroken bulbs at Home Depot, Lowes Medical or Biological Waste Radioactive Materials.
