Norwalk Fire Dept. Gives Out Smoke Alarms

NORWALK, Conn. – More than 200 smoke alarms have been donated to the Norwalk Fire Department , including 75 from smoke detector manufacturer First Alert .

In the past, the fire department received grants to purchase smoke alarms and give them to resident for their homes. However, as the funding slowed, the department asked local businesses and residents for help.

First Alert donated the alarms as part of their support for the burn awareness outreach promoted by the documentary film "Trial By Fire: Lives Re-Forged.” First Alert has donated over 1,500 detectors to Connecticut fire departments through its commitment to the film's fire safety message. It donated 1,000 alarms in Stamford following the tragic Christmas fire. First Alert is also offering a 20 percent discount on all online merchandise at (enter the discount code TrialByFire at checkout).

“All homes should have working smoke alarms,” said Norwalk Fire Marshal Glenn Iannaccone. “This donation will help protect lives and property in our community. Working smoke alarms double the chance of surviving a home fire,” Iannaccone added.
