NORWALK, Conn. Three Norwalkers who fell out of a kayak into the water off the Calf Pasture Beach pier Saturday afternoon were taken to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation, said Norwalk Deputy Fire Chief Gino Gatto. The kayakers, an adult and two juveniles, were soaked and shivering after being in the 45-degree water.
The Fire Department's marine service arrived several minutes after being called at 2:49 p.m. on a report of people in the water, Gatto said. The victims managed to get back into the kayak, and were lifted into the marine service boat. They were taken to Cove Marina, where an ambulance was waiting.
The kayakers, ages 37, 17 and 8, were dressed in shorts and sweatshirts. Only two of them had life jackets on.
