NORWALK, Conn. A minor fire in a warehouse at a Connecticut Avenue store forced its evacuation Friday morning. Later, the Norwalk Fire Department dealt with a blaze at a residence. One firefighter went to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation after the second fire.
The fire at P.C. Richard & Sons, located at 444 Connecticut Ave., was reported at 11:17 a.m. Smoke was coming from a warehouse exterior door. Firefighters quickly put out the fire, which was confined to an oven and some cardboard boxes, according to Deputy Chief Gino Gatto. They then stayed on the scene to ventilate the warehouse.
Later, an attic fire was reported at 55 Soundview Ave. Firefighters found smoke showing from a second floor window and the home's occupant outside waiting for help. Firefighters put the fire out and made sure it hadn't spread.
Both fires are being investigated by Fire Inspector Broderick Sawyer.
