Norwalk Drivers Advised To Use Caution On Weather-Damaged Roads

NORWALK, Conn. – Norwalk Mayor Harry W. Rilling is advising city drivers to be extra careful on local roads due to the wild swings in weather that have caused significant damage.

As the seasons change, roads will suffer frost heaves, potholes, pavement delaminations and settled manholes and catch basins. Since Norwalk's winter has been brutal, repairs will take time, Rilling said.

Drivers should be aware that potholes and delaminations are frequently hidden until one drives right on top of them in daylight, and often aren't seen at all in darkness, Rilling said.

Residents can report any of these conditions to the Customer Service Center by calling 203-854-3200 or emailing customerservice@norwalkct.org.

The city asks callers or emailers to be as specific as possible with location, a full address is preferred. Reaching the Customer Service Center is the best way to get to the responsible supervisor in a timely manner, and calling another city department instead will delay the process.
