Norwalk Driver: Loose Dog Caused Accident

NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk driver who hit a tree near Brien McMahon High School Thursday said she did it while swerving to avoid hitting a dog, Norwalk Police Sgt. Lisa Cotto said. The 45-year-old resident of Rowayton Woods Road suffered minor injuries, Norwalk Fire Department Dep. Chief Chris King said.

The woman was traveling on Highland Avenue when her 2005 Jeep Cherokee hit a tree at 337 Highland Ave., at 8:31 a.m. She said a German shepherd ran in front of her and she swerved to the left, losing control of the vehicle on the wet road, Cotto said.

She was issued a citation for failure to renew registration, a $117 fine. The car was towed and she was taken to Norwalk Hospital with knee injuries.
