Norwalk Deliveryman Throws Pizza To Thwart Robbery

NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk pizza delivery driver threw his bag full of pizza in self-defense Thursday night after being punched in the face, Norwalk police say.

Police responding to the 8:30 p.m. report of a robbery found the pizza bag on the ground next to a yellow plumbing van at 15 Kossuth St. The driver, who did not need medical attention, was back at Speedy Pizza, at 75 Main Ave., Sgt. James Boff said. He said he had been trying to deliver pizza to 15 Kossuth St. and had felt threatened by two suspects, who Boff did not describe. They did not display a weapon, but one of them punched the driver. He threw the pizza bag at them and fled.

A potential witness said he had been watching the World Series and did not hear anything.

It is the second time this month that a pizza delivery driver reported being robbed in South Norwalk. A Jordan's Too driver said he was jumped Oct. 8.
