NORWALK, Conn. - The bodies of two people who had been shot to death were found in a car Saturday morning in a Norwalk neighborhood between Scribner and Taylor Avenues. Norwalk Police suspected a double homicide or murder-suicide, and the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad was assisting in the investigation.
The bodies, a man and a woman, were found on Avenue B and were reported at 7:48 a.m. The car was damaged by gunshot, police sources say. Police were using surveying equipment in their investigation, the type used to determine bullet trajectories. They were also using a metal detector.
Members of the woman's family began arriving around 1 p.m. More than 10 were present when they apparently confirmed that it was their loved one, and several cried. A family member said she was 24 years old.
Police do not know why the pair were in the neighborhood, Deputy Chief Thomas Kulhawik said. Neighbors did not recognize the car and it was not registered to a Norwalk resident. Kulhawik said state police are assisting because they have more experience determining the trajectory of bullets.
The car was parked with its front end sticking out, not parallel to the curb.
A resident of the neighborhood said his daughter heard shots at about midnight. She thought they were fireworks. Another resident said he had come home at 1 a.m. and everything was fine.
