Norwalk Classes Offer Small Business Tips

NORWALK, Conn. — Small business owners can learn how to make more money by better understanding finances and their tax obligations at a series of classes in Norwalk next month.

Topics of the classes include understanding financial statements, making income projections, accounting and tax requirements.

“As local entrepreneurs add jobs and grow their businesses, these classes will help them to navigate their financial responsibilities and, in turn, maximize their profits," said Norwalk State Sen. Bob Duff , who is sponsoring the classes with the Community Economic Development Fund.

The workshops, called “Understanding Business Finances and Tax Related Issues to Maximize Your Small Business Profit,” take place from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Feb. 21, 22, 27 and 28 at Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Avenue. Participants are encouraged to attend all four classes.

Seating is limited to 20 attendees, so early registration is required. Registration and payment must be received prior to the start of the first class session. Register online at www.cedf.com or return a registration form with payment to: CEDF, 965 East Main Street, Meriden, CT 06450.

The cost is $45 for Community Economic Development Fund clients (see list of partner organizations at www.cedf.com ) and  $70 for all other Connecticut small businesses.

“People need to learn how to upgrade their business skills in order to retool for the new economy, and these classes will help them do that,” said Donna Wertenbach, president and CEO of the Community Economic Development Fund.
