NORWALK, Conn. Train riders leaving from the South Norwalk rail station will see a change in their parking permit options and in the prices.
Starting Tuesday, the Norwalk Parking Authority will add two new permits for the South Norwalk train station: one multifacility permit for the railroad station and the Maritime Garage or a gold permit, and a second for daily parking at the East Norwalk station. In addition to adding the facilities, the fee at the municipal parking lot will increase.
The gold permit will give a driver all day-all week access to both parking facilities. Rates for daily parking at most of the authoritys lots and garages will increase by $1 a day. Permit fees will rise by $2 a month.
Were hoping that instead of going straight home, commuters might be encouraged to park at the Maritime Garage and go to the Maritime Aquarium, eat at SoNos eclectic diverse restaurants, go to fashionable retail establishments or maybe even take a ferry ride to Sheffield Island, said Kathryn Herbert , Norwalk Parking Authority director.
Chairman of the Norwalk Parking Authority, Bryan Meek, said it is always looking for ways to make it easier for our customers to find and use parking in Norwalk.
