A Norwalk woman took an extra shift at work after being called by her boss before dawn Tuesday. But instead of making extra money she will incur court costs. The woman, Milagros Sanchez-Mostacero, 26, was charged with leaving her preschool-age son home alone. She faces two counts of injury/risk/impairing morals. Bond was $2,000.
Sanchez-Mostacero's ex-boyfriend called Norwalk Police around 6 a.m. after going to the Mott Avenue home to check on his son. He had been delivering newspapers, was in the area and "had a feeling," police say. Sanchez-Mostacero and her new boyfriend weren't home. The father had no idea where his son was, but couldn't imagine he would be anywhere else but at home.
When police arrived, the new boyfriend was home. He said there were no buses running that early, so he had driven the mother to work and returned.
Police picked up Sanchez-Mostacero at her job and took her to Norwalk Police headquarters.
