Merritt Closed in Norwalk After Truck Hits Bridge

NORWALK, Conn. – A tractor-trailer sustained heavy damage when it hit an overpass on the Merritt Parkway on Monday morning, forcing closure of the northbound side of the roadway.

A worker with the state Department of Transportation said truck hit the Grumman Avenue overpass in Norwalk at about 10 a.m.

Connecticut State Police were offloading the truck just north of Grumman Avenue at 1:25 p.m. Both lanes of the highway were blocked, and traffic was being diverted off the road at some point south of the accident.

Trucks are banned from the Merritt Parkway.

There should some requirement about reading English before they let a guy drive a rig that size.

this imbecilic driver has a screw loose. I was driving southbound and watched him drive right under the Grumman Ave Bridge. His truck then became an open sardine can.
