Man With Gun Questioned Outside Norwalk Hospital

NORWALK, Conn. – An armed man was spotted outside Norwalk Hospital Wednesday afternoon and Norwalk Police were called. Turned out the man – and a friend – were legally entitled to carry the guns, Officer Carlton Giles said.

Police were told at 1:16 p.m. that an armed man was out by the hospital's helicopter pad, Giles said. On the way to the hospital officers were advised by the dispatcher that hospital security had already handled the situation. Police found the man by the emergency room entrance. There were two men, who each had a valid pistol permit and were both legally carrying handguns that were registered to them. They had a friend in the ER, and were told not to enter the hospital while carrying weapons.

Giles did not know why the men were allowed to legally entitled to carry guns, as the information was not in the report.
