A man was shot on Chestnut Street in Norwalk at 3:52 p.m. Wednesday, police said. An officer reported hearing four to five shots fired, and police found the injured man between Monroe and Henry streets.
The male victim was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to Norwalk Hospital. His condition was unknown.
Detectives suspect that a silver four-door sedan with tinted windows was involved in the shooting. It was last seen heading south on Chestnut Street toward Henry Street.
Officers notified two nearby schools, Columbus Magnet School and Side by Side Community School, about the incident and assure the safety of students and staff remaining after the school day. There was a science fair going on at the time.
