A Norwalk man was hit in the head and robbed by two or three men while walking on Taylor Avenue early Saturday. The victim was bleeding slightly from his mouth when Norwalk police reached him at Rit's Deli on West Cedar Street, when he had used a pay phone to call them at 3:39 a.m.
He said he had been walking near Taylor Avenue and Hillside Place when he heard footsteps behind him. He looked to his right, toward the Sound, and was hit on the head with something hard. He blacked out for a moment, and when he came to he could see one assailant running away. He thinks they took some jewelry and some cash.
Police say the victim had facial lacerations and was missing a tooth. They searched for the assailants he described but did not find them.
