Man Charged in Norwalk Park Assault

NORWALK, Conn. – A Norwalk man has been charged in the March 8 assault of a woman in a West Avenue park. Norwalk Police say Emmanuel Montanez, 25, of 8 Davenport St. attacked and seriously injured a 53-year-old woman who was sitting on a bench in Fera Park.

The woman suffered severe cuts to her face and spent at least one night in Norwalk Hospital, Sgt. James Walsh said.

Montanez was previously arrested in connection with an incident involving another woman in the park at about the same time. The victim said Montanez confronted her, called her a racial epithet and threatened to kill her, Sgt. James Walsh said. The park is located in the area of the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion.

Sgt. Lisa Cotto said Friday that Montanez has been charged with assault second degree and breach of peace in the attack. He has a court-set bond of $50,000.
