NORWALK, Conn. – A man was taken away in handcuffs after a three-car collision Thursday afternoon at Wall and Commerce streets in Norwalk. A witness, who was in one of the cars involved, said the man was fleeing Norwalk police when the accident occurred.

The witness said no one was seriously injured in the crash. Deputy Fire Chief Edward Prescott said two people, who had been in one car, were taken to Norwalk Hospital for evaluation because they were complaining of neck and back pain.

The driver of a white full-size Ford van fled on foot after the collision, according to the witness, a teenager from Westport. Officers chased the driver and caught him. He was taken away in a Norwalk Hospital ambulance as narcotics officers watched.

The teenage witness said he heard sirens before the car he was in was hit and dragged. He said the white van had been coming from the direction of SoNo with officers in pursuit.

The accident happened at about 4:30 p.m. Wall Street was closed for some time because debris was strewn all over the road.

The Daily Norwalk will update this story when more details are available.

Tim T. has nothing better to do but complain, complain, complain. Listen...if your not happy with the NPD and Moccia, you know the old saying....." DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YOU WHERE THE GOOD LORD SPLIT YOU!!!!! Move. Why not move Tim? I know if I was as unhappy as you CONSTANTLY express, I'd move to a place where I felt my tax dollars weren't being wasted.

lwitherspoon:

What you claim has never happened. I'm going to read between the lines and say the reason for your response is that you don't have any evidence, you're just making things up again.

rerbc:

I really feel sorry for Tim T...poor, bitter old man...nothing better to do is rant and rave and "boo-hoo, NPD doesn't do their job...boo-hooo" and if they do catch someone "boo-hoo, they endangered lives" Poor old man...he sounds like he hates everyone...

Tim T:

Once again lwitherspoon

When one disagree with you all you do is post the same old same old saying to prove something and when you are proven wrong you ignore the facts and once again say to prove it..I will not play your games

I DON'T WORK FOR YOU.

Tim T:

RML
I suggest you look in the mirror if you would like to see ignorant..As a taxpayer I will continue to demand change in Norwalk in the failure of the PD and Mayors office..If you cant handle that I would suggest you don't read my posts. PRETTY SIMPLE ISN'T IT????

RML:

Tim T,

They don't come more ignorant than you We all know how you feel about the NPD and Moccia. Move on!!!!! It's beating a dead horse. Until YOU make a change, STOP COMPLAINING!!!!!! Thanks.

lwitherspoon:

I don't understand how the burden of proof is on me when you are the one making the claim. Perhaps you do things differently, but when I make a statement, I provide facts to back up the statement, so that people know I'm not simply making things up.

So all I'm asking is that you share with us what evidence you have that supports your statement that "Clearly this inappropriate chase caused this accident and once again innocent people were injured due to the misconduct by the NPD."

Tim T:

lwitherspoon
The burden of proof is on you as I know what I say is 100 percent correct. When one disagree with you all you do is post the same old same old saying to prove something and when you are proven wrong you ignore the facts and once again say to prove it..I will not play your games as I and most of Norwalk feel the NPD is a failure...The Zero percent major crime unsolved rate proves this. If you would like to investigate further I have told you time and again get on the bus and go to the PD and check the log at the front desk . I do not work for you and I will not do your leg work. So put up or shut up.

lwitherspoon:

Tim T

Thanks for your question. I am not paid by anybody to post here. I don't know Mayor Moccia or the Police Chief personally. I am not even a Republican, as you have so often accused in other comments, as though it were an insult. I vote for whichever candidates I think will act responsibly with taxpayer money. How about we be adults for once and skip the personal attacks on which you so frequently rely when you can't prove your case with hard facts.

Earlier, you made a statement regarding this case:

"Clearly this inappropriate chase caused this accident and once again innocent people were injured due to the misconduct by the NPD."

What evidence do you have supporting your statement that the chase was inappropriate? I would like you to share it with us, and if the evidence clearly establishes that the chase was inappropriate, then I will personally write a letter of complaint to the Police Commissioners.

Mr Nelson:

Tim T
I was thinking the same thing about lwitherspoon and rerbc that they must be being paid to post by someone as no one could be that blind or dumb.

Tim T:

RML
You are correct I can't stand that the NPD is a failure and have allowed crime to run ramped in Norwalk . Only a criminal would support such a failure of a police department. Also as far as doing their a job a monkey could better, with that said you may have a chance.

Tim T:

To lwitherspoon/ rerbc the two Morons..
What I and most of Norwalk want to see is the NPD catch criminals the right way without endangering innocent lives by doing inappropriate pursuits. I do realize that both of you are to stupid to understand this. Also its funny how you both run to the defense of all the inappropriate actions of both Moccia and the NPD..Tell us who is paying you to post your ridiculous posts as I cant believe one would posts your nonsense for free.

RML:

Tim T,

Dude....you are a joke. Your never happy, and clearly you can't stand the NPD, so MOVE!!!!! I'd love to see you do their job. LOL

Tim T:

Also most progressive police departments have policies regarding chase ...For example NYPD only involve themselves in high speed pursuit when a life is in danger..Clearly this inappropriate chase caused this accident and once again innocent people were injured due to the misconduct by the NPD. As far as lwitherspoon comments go I just ignore him as he clearly has other motives in attempting to protect the NPD and or Moccia the Moron. He also seems to fear the truthfulness of my post as he feels the need to responding to each and everyone of them with a lame attempt at B/S spin. You know what they say the truth hurts.

lwitherspoon:

Ken P

If the guy had gotten away, Tim T would be complaining that the NPD are worthless failures because the guy got away!!!! LOL

rerbc:

Tim T is just a joke...after reading all his rants, he sounds like a bitter old man who has nothing better to do then complain. I am starting to feel sorry for him...poor guy.I couldnt imagine being so bitter

Ken P Jr:

You are a hard guy to please Tim. I'd opine it was an inappropriate escape attempt. You are suposed to stop when the police try to pull you over.

lwitherspoon:

Absolutely right Ken. May I also add that the police are only allowed to pull you over if you are observed committing an infraction or if they have probable cause to believe you have committed an infraction. The guidelines are very strict on what constitutes probable cause.

Here's Tim T's brilliant yet hilarious logic:

1) NPD have to do a better job at catching criminals, because they never catch anybody.

- HOWEVER -

2) When a criminal flees, NPD are not allowed to pursue them, because an accident may occur.

Nice!

Tim T:

This sound like yet another inappropriate pursuit by the NPD..Will this be a cover up???
