FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Trains on Metro-North Railroad's New Haven line were being delayed about 30 minutes Monday morning as a result of the thunderstorm that hit Fairfield County in the morning.
A bolt of lightning struck the train line’s overhead wires Monday morning, bringing down one of the lines, according to reports from Metro-North. Southbound trains were stalled for approximately two hours while crews repaired the situation.
As of 11 a.m., Metro-North said the problem was cleared, but commuters should expect residual delays of about 30 minutes. Those riding the train were advised to listen for updates and announcements on the station platform.
