Parents pushed strollers, pulled wagons and carts and helped their children join the parade as they dressed up in their favorite costumes.
The parade also included free face painting, tattoos, arts and crafts, street performers, clowns and magicians. Prizes were awarded for the most creative floats.
Families also gained free admission to the zoo as part of the parade.
The Barnum Festival concludes this week with a full lineup of events. The Barnum Festival was created to build community spirit and honor Bridgeport’s most famous resident, P.T. Barnum. The renowned entrepreneur and co-founder of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus was also a generous philanthropist, newspaper publisher, charismatic showman, philosopher, humanitarian, politician and benefactor for the City of Bridgeport, where he served as mayor.
