Jury Rules Against Aunt Who Sued Westport Boy Over Wrist Broken In Hug

WESTPORT, Conn. — An aunt who sued her Westport nephew for $127,000 over a broken wrist suffered an exuberant hug on his birthday four years ago lost her case in court Tuesday, according to the News-Times website.

Jennifer Connell, 54, of New York City testified in Bridgeport court that the injury made it hard for her to hold a plate of hors d’oeuvres, the News-Times reported. 

After just 20 minutes, the jury returned with a verdict in favor of the now 12-year-old boy, with one juror saying, “We just didn’t think the boy was negligent,” according to the News-Times. 

The injury occurred at a birthday party in March 18, 2011, for the boy, who jumped into his aunt's arms, knocking her to the ground, the story said.
