NORWALK John Howard Anderson, 89, an active Norwalker and World War II veteran, died recently at Norwalk Hospital. Anderson was a member of the Norwalk High School Class of 1938 and served in the Army Air Corps.
Anderson worked for Nash Engineering for more than 40 years, starting as an apprentice machinist and retiring as superintendent of production. He then worked for Mutual Security Federal Credit Union and Meckel's Florist.
Anderson was an avid bowler and a member of the United Covenant Church Bowling Team from its inception in 1941 until 2009. He was also a board member of United Covenant Church.
Anderson enjoyed boating and was a longtime member of the East Norwalk Boat Club. He was also a member of the Silvermine Volunteer Fire Department and was on the board of directors for the Salvation Army.
In addition to his wife Anna, Anderson is survived by his daughter, Karen Murray, and her husband, Peter, of Milford; his son, John Howard Anderson, Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Fairfield; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
