GREENWICH, Conn. – Jillian Rowe Kent of Norwalk, formerly from Greenwich, died in late August after a battle with brain cancer. She was 59 years old.

Her parents, Marjorie Rowe and the late Benjamin Ackley Rowe II, were leaders in the real estate industry in Greenwich and founded Preferred Properties 46 years ago. Kent worked for Preferred Properties after graduating from college and was vice president of advertising and marketing and corporate sales, as well as corporate secretary for the company. Kent co-managed the commercial, residential, relocation and mortgage divisions of Preferred Properties until the business was sold to Coldwell Banker in 2009, after which Kent remained an active member of the team.

In addition to her mother, survivors are Kent's husband, Bill Kent of Norwalk; three sisters, Allison Rowe Carroll of Stamford; Abigail Oswald and her husband, David and son Chase; and Wendy Rowe and her son, Elliot Bachop.

A private burial was held on Aug. 26. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, at noon at the Second Congregational Church, located at 139 E. Putnam Ave. in Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Hospital for Children at stjude.org or The Human Farming Association at hfa.org .
