Husband Arrested In Slaying Of Norwalk Native Stationed At Fort Bliss

NORWALK, Conn. -- The husband of a 20-year-old Norwalk native serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss in Texas has been charged in her death earlier this month, according to the El Paso Times.

Pfc. Christina Bukovcik, 20, a food service specialist at Fort Bliss, was found dead Thursday, Dec. 4, in her apartment in El Paso, the Times said. No details on the manner of her death were released.   

Her husband, Geomel Shaffa, 22, has been arrested in Arizona on suspicion of murder and held on $1 million bond, the Time said.

Christina Michele "Chrissy" Bukovcik, was born in Norwalk on May 10, 1994. She was the daughter of Darlene Temple and Steven Bukovcik of Bridgeport.

She graduated in 2012 from Piper High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. 

She is survived by her sister Stephanie Bukovcik; brother John Bukovcik; sister-in-law Katianna Morales and two nephews.

She was buried at South Florida VA National Cemetery, and a memorial service in Connecticut will take place at a later date. Arrangements were handled by T.M. Ralph Funeral Homes in Plantation, Fla.
