Home-Buying Help Offered in Norwalk

STAMFORD, Conn. — To help working-class families buy and renovate homes in Stamford, Norwalk and other parts of Fairfield County, Asset Property Disposition Solutions launched the “Get Home Now!” program Monday.

“We have people with a good credit score, that get up and go to work every day and they are scared,” Vaughn Irons, Chief Executive Officer for Asset Property Disposition Solutions, said during the news conference Monday. The company provides community development consulting and comprehensive real estate services.

With the economic downturn and job instability, people have been reluctant to buy new homes, Irons said. With “Get Home Now!” buyers can have job loss flexibility and other benefits helping them, he said. “The best commitment you can make to a city like Stamford or a county like Fairfield is to buy a home,” Irons said.

“Get Home Now!” helps families buy homes that have been left vacant because of foreclosures. More than 300 families in Connecticut are expected to take part in the $25 million campaign.

First Guaranty Mortgage Corp. will offer low down payment requirements and flexible credit options to approved buyers, a statement said. Asset Property Disposition Solutions has also worked with the Home Depot ‘s Renovation Services group to provide renovation and repair services to people buying homes with the “Get Home Now!” program.

Also supporting the plan are U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, D-4th District, and Mayor Michael Pavia of Stamford, Mayor Richard Moccia of Norwalk and Mayor Bill Finch of Bridgeport.

An informational session will be held at 5: 30 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at the Stamford Government Center. An informational session will also be held in Norwalk but no date has been set.
