The Greenwich Public schools are closed, and the Greenwich First Selectman has deemed it necessary to delay the opening of Town Hall until 11 a.m. Monday.
If it is necessary to drive, give yourself extra time to get to your destination and drive with caution, Police Lt. Kraig Gray said. Driving speeds should be substantially reduced to avoid accidents, Gray said.
The state Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security is reporting towns can expect moderate to heavy snow for the next two to three hours, said Gray. Mixed precipitation along the coast may change to freezing rain.
The intensity of the snowfall and sleet is expected to lessen at about 10 a.m. but not end, Gray said.
The mixed precipitation will be changing back to light snow between 1 and 4 p.m. Temperatures will begin to drop Monday afternoon back into the teens by early evening. Total snowfall is expected to range from 3 to 6 inches or more along the coast.
