NORWALK, Conn. -- Several organizations, including Norwalk Community College, are offering free tax preparation assistance.
Those with incomes under $52,000 may receive free in-person assistance with their tax returns at “Tax Blitz Day” from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Norwalk Community College at 188 Richards Ave. in Norwalk. The event is sponsored by the United Way and Bank of America.
State Sen. Bob Duff (D-Norwalk) is also encouraging residents of Darien and Norwalk to take advantage of the free tax preparation services available online through the IRS Free File program and the state’s Taxpayer Services Center, and advised them of multiple local opportunities for free in-person tax preparation assistance.
“Preparing your family’s income taxes can be a complicated process, so I am happy to say that there are multiple free online and in-person services available to help households prepare their state and federal tax returns. I encourage everyone who can to take full advantage of these opportunities,” said Duff.
The AARP is offering free federal and state tax assistance and preparation services to middle- and low-income taxpayers, with special attention to those 60 and older. The face-to-face service is available at 96 sites across Connecticut, including the Norwalk Public Library on Belden Avenue, Norwalk First Congregational Church, Norwalk Senior Center, South Norwalk Library on Washington Street, and the Darien Library at 1441 Post Road.
