FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- As rain began to fall Monday evening, the National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Advisory from 10 p.m. Monday until 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Minor coastal flooding was possible along western Long Island Sound, the weather service said on its website.
The tide could be a half-foot to a foot above normal at about midnight.
"Water levels will slightly exceed minor coastal flood thresholds around high tide tonight," the weather service said. "Impacts should be limited to typically more vulnerable spots."
The advisory was issued because the combination of onshore winds and high tides combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
