FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – No, it’s not you. The weather in Fairfield County is actually hotter this year.
The state, indeed the country, is at least two degrees hotter this year, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climatic Data Center.
NOAA’s monthly “State of the Climate” report says the average temperature in June across the country was 71.2, which contributed to the warmest 12-month period the country has experienced since data started being collected in 1895.
While Connecticut broke no heat records in June, 173 places around the country tied or broke previous marks. The highest was a record 118 in Norton, Kan., on June 28, only days after a record 113 was notched on June 25.
The heat waves that swept through Fairfield County sent temperatures soaring in the mid to high 90s, and it often felt like it was over 100.
