Fairfield County Nonprofit Wins Telly Awards

A four-minute animated film produced by the Norwalk-based Fairfield County Community Foundation has received two Telly Awards.

Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards honors outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, video and film productions as well as web commercials, videos and films. The foundation's animated film "Seeds of Opportunity" won bronze Tellys in the categories of Charitable/Not-for-Profit and Use of Animation. "Seeds of Opportunity" was produced to advance the work of the foundation's Fund for Women and Girls, which helps Fairfield County women and girls overcome obstacles and reach their potential.

The foundation's staff wrote the film's script, and the production studio was Happy Trails Animation in Portland, Ore. Nearly 11,000 entries were submitted from all 50 states and many countries. A panel of more than 500 industry professionals, each past winners of a Silver Telly and members of the Silver Telly Council, judged the competition.

Winners also included companies, ad agencies and organizations from large multinational media companies as well as small ad agencies and local production houses. A sample of winners includes Booz Allen Hamilton, Turner Studios, Nickelodeon, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, Time Warner Cable, Johns Hopkins Children's Center and the Lighthouse Film Co.

The Fairfield County Community Foundation promotes the growth of community and regional philanthropy to improve the quality of life throughout Fairfield County. Individuals, families, corporations and organizations can establish their own charitable funds or contribute to existing funds focused on specific areas of need or communities in Fairfield County. The foundation also provides philanthropic advisory services and develops and leads initiatives to tackle critical community issues. The foundation has awarded more than $123 million in grants to nonprofits in Fairfield County and beyond.
