St. Thomas the Apostle church has had an agreement with the Norwalk Parking Authority since 2007 to provide parking for commuters for the East Norwalk Train Station, according to a press release. Earlier this year, the church notified the parking authority that they did not want to renew the agreement. Originally, the current agreement was due to expire July 1. Subsequent to discussions with Rilling and the parking authority, the church agreed to extend that deadline, according to a press release.
The parking authority is urging commuters to use alternative railroad parking in South Norwalk due to the extremely limited availability of parking at the East Norwalk Station. Alternatives include the Webster Parking Lot, which is 2 ½ blocks from the South Norwalk Railroad Station, and Madison Street, which is 1 ½ blocks to the South Norwalk Railroad Station.
