Drug Bust Leads to Two Arrests

An undercover investigation netted the Darien police two drug arrests in Norwalk last Friday. On July 26, police were set to arrest Rafael Diaz, 23, of Norwalk for three counts of the sale of marijuana and two counts of conspiracy to sell marijuana. The warrant for Diaz's arrest stemmed from an undercover operation in which Darien police officers allegedly observed Diaz selling drugs in Darien. Police could not comment further because the undercover operation is still ongoing.

Investigators knew that Diaz would be at AutoZone on Cross Street in Norwalk that afternoon, and brought SWAT teams and the town's K-9 unit in for the arrest. When Diaz arrived, police also found 21-year-old Everton Kinlock of Norwalk, along with a scale and 39.1 grams of marijuana individually bagged for sale. Police arrested both Diaz and Kinlock on new charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, sale of marijuana, conspiracy to sell marijuana.

Kinlock was released on $10,000 bond. Diaz's bond was $20,000, half for the warrant's charges and half for the new charges discovered Friday. Both are scheduled to appear in court Aug. 3.
