Disabled Vehicle Cleared From Snow-Covered Merritt Parkway In New Canaan

updated: NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The disabled vehicle has been cleared and the Merritt Parkway reopened at about 8 p.m. Sunday. Delays were reported all the way back to Fairfield. 

original story: NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- A disabled vehicle has closed the southbound Merritt Parkway on a snowy Sunday evening in lower Fairfield County, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

The closure is between Exit 36 in New Canaan for Route 106 and Exit 35 for High Ridge Road/Route 137 in Stamford, DOT said. 

The closure was reported Sunday, at 7:04 p.m.

It was not clear how long it would take to clear the roadway. Heavy delays were reported in the area Sunday evening.
