NORWALK, Conn. — A large power outage was reported Tuesday afternoon in Norwalk after strong winds blew down a large maple tree near the Norwalk Green, according to Eversource and The Hour.
Eversource confirmed a large outage of 509 customers — about 2 percent of the city — as of 2 p.m. Tuesday.
As of 2:20 p.m., the number of outages had been reduced to 188 customers, Eversource said.
East Avenue is closed between Westport Avenue/Route 1 and Morgan Avenue due to the downed tree, utility poles and wires, police said.
Policed urged motorists to avoid the area and seek a detour.
