FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The demolition of Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, the site of one of the worst school shooting massacres in U.S. history, began last week, according to a story in the Los Angeles Times.
Heavy machinery and construction trucks began the work to demolish the campus where 20 first-graders and six school employees died Dec. 14.
Rarely has a major tear-down been conducted in such a hushed manner, but rarely has a project been steeped in such tragedy, the story said.
