County Lawmakers Plan Forum on Jobs Creation

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Four state lawmakers are organizing a roundtable at which Fairfield County business owners can share ideas on improving Connecticut's economic climate.

The lawmakers – State Reps. John Shaban, Fred Camillo, Lile Gibbons and Livvy Floren – are inviting the business people to the forum, slated for Oct. 19, to collect information ahead of an Oct. 26 special legislative session on spurring private-sector job creation. Connecticut currently has an unemployment rate of 9 percent.

“State legislators can not create private sector jobs, but we can certainly create or reshape existing policies that will make life easier for the people who do,” said Shaban, who represents the 135th General Assembly District, covering Easton, Weston and Redding. “There’s no better source of input and ideas than the men and women running shops on our main streets, people who pay the bills and make payrolls each and every week.”

The event will take place at the Greenwich law office of Whitman Breed Abbot & Morgan, located at 500 W. Putnam Ave. It starts at 6 p.m.
