FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – State of Connecticut flags should be lowered to half-staff in honor of the Hartford firefighter who died Tuesday night while battling a blaze in a Hartford home, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said Wednesday.
“Last night’s tragic events are another reminder of the incredible sacrifice that our state’s first responders make on a daily basis,” Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman said in a joint statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the hero we lost and those who were injured in the line of duty in our capital city.”
Flags will remain at half-staff until services are held, the date of which has not been determined.
