The affected customers were back online as of noon, CL&P said. No further power outages were reported.
Original story: NORWALK, Conn. -- Connecticut Light & Power is reporting power outages in central Norwalk on Tuesday morning.
As of 11:15 a.m., there were 678 customers without power, or about 2 percent of the city.
The Norwalk Superior Courthouse was evacuated just before 11 a.m. and the Norwalk Library is also reported to be without power, The Hour reported.
Two underground explosions rocked nearby Main Street at about 8:45 a.m., closing the road between Cross and Wall streets. It was not known whether the outages were related to the underground explosions.
"Officers reporting 2 underground explosions in the area of Main & Wall. No injuries reported at this time. Manholes dislodged as a result," said Chief Tom Kulhawik via Twitter @NPDChief at 8:49 a.m. Tuesday.
Connecticut Light & Power is on the scene, with workers already working below ground as of 10 a.m.
