FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Someone in Fairfield County who purchased a $2 Powerball ticket for Thursday night’s drawing woke up Friday $1 million richer after matching the first five numbers drawn on Jan. 21.
Check your tickets: The winning Powerball numbers drawn on Thursday, Jan. 21, were 11, 12, 15, 28 and 57 the Powerball number was 23.
The $1 million winner has not yet come forward, according to the Connecticut Lottery. The ticket was sold in an undisclosed location somewhere in Fairfield County.
In total, 11,558 winning Powerball tickets were sold statewide for Thursday, with prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million.
Since the new Powerball game began on Jan. 15, 2012, Connecticut has sold 22 prize winning tickets each worth $1 million plus another six tickets that were “Power Played” for the game’s $2 million prize.
