Blasting Along I-95 Will Stall Traffic In Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. – Daytime blasting of the area between Interstate 95 exits 14 and 15 will begin on Tuesday and traffic disruption is expected.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation released the schedule for the blasting and rock removal from the area: starting between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, traffic will be stopped.

The controlled removal of the rock, including some blasting, will take place along both the northbound and southbound sides of I-95 between Taylor Avenue and Route 7.

During blasting operations, traffic on I-95 in both directions will be halted for five to 10 minute intervals two or three times between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

According to the department, because of the blasting, drivers should expect road blocks to be used in halting or slowing traffic and therefore expect significant delays.
