Award-Winning '60 Minutes' Newsman Bob Simon Dies In Car Crash

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Award-winning "60 Minutes" correspondent and CBS News foreign reporter Bob Simon, 73, was killed in a car crash Wednesday night in New York City, according to a report by CBS News.

Simon was riding in the back of a cab when it rear-ended another vehicle, the report said. The cab crashed into barriers separating northbound-and-southbound traffic on the West Side Highway, the report said. 

Simon was transported to St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, where he died, the report said. The cab driver was taken to another hospital with injuries to his arms and legs, the report said. 

Police are investigating the accident but have made no arrests, the report said.
