Two or three masked men escaped with several hundred dollars in cash Friday night after holding up store personnel and patrons at gunpoint in the R & G Grocery , located at 28 Wall St., Norwalk. One of the men, who had a handgun, forced patrons to the floor, telling them not to move. One of patrons dropped $100, his change after a transaction. It was picked up by the robbers.
In addition to their masks, all of the men were wearing dark hooded sweatshirts. They emptied the cash register and took cigarettes. Witnesses said that when they exited the store, they turned left and headed northbound on Main Street.
The cashier said there had been three men; patrons said there were two.
No one was injured in the incident.
