April Snow Showers Fall In Norwalk

DANBURY, Conn. -- Many parts of Fairfield County woke up to a coating of icy, heavy snow Wednesday, an unusual occurrence for mid-April, after an overnight squall, the National Weather Service said.

The snow should clear out Wednesday, with sunny skies and a high in the mid-40s. It will be breezy, with a northwest wind of 15 to 20 mph, and gusts as high as 32 mph.

A freeze warning remains in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday for coastal Connecticut. Sensitive plants and vegetation could be damaged or killed by the freezing temperatures. 

The National Weather Service said periods of rain and snow continued overnight with lows in the 20s across most of Fairfield County. Blustery northwest winds of 18 to 21 mph were blowing. Less than a half inch of snow accumulated overnight.
