5 Black Thrills Wilton Football Crowd

WILTON, Conn. – Wilton 5 Black won another thrilling game, taking down Darien White, 19-0. It was Wilton Black’s second shutout in a row, and boosted the team’s record to 4-1 for the season.

The offensive and defensive lines deserve most of the credit for making Wilton 5 Black victorious this week. They were dominant on both sides of the ball. On defense, Jake Stein, Aaron Kleeman, Michael DiCostanzo, Joey Bohacs, Liam Sullivan, Daniel Ottavi, and Michael Angerame swarmed to the ball and refused to allow any big plays. The offensive line, supported by Reilly Bingaman, Thomas Sullivan, Andrew Segall, Dylan Kennedy, Tayvion Eusebe and Jack Caty, gave the Wilton quarterbacks time to throw and opened up running lanes that seemed a mile wide at times.

Wilton showed its big-play capability this week. Its first-quarter lead was made possible by Zach Pozzi’s 55-yard run. Connor Drake followed with a 5-yard run to make the score 6-0. In the second quarter, Pozzi hooked up with Andrew Calabrese for a 60-yard bomb, making it 12-0 at halftime. In the third quarter, Travis Longo hit pay dirt with a 51-yard sweep, freed up by punishing blocks by Drew Herlyn and Calabrese. Wilton made the extra point thanks to a brilliant pass back across the grain by Patrick Ciquera to an open Reilly Bingaman in the end zone, making the score 19-0. What a win!
