NORWALK, Conn. A Norwalk pizza deliveryman reported being robbed at knifepoint Monday night near the South Norwalk Library. Norwalk police arrested two Norwalk teens, Sgt. Lisa Cotto said.
The Uncles Pizza deliveryman said that when he got out of his car at about 10:30 p.m. on Madison Street behind the library, two or three males approached. One had a knife. He threw the large pizza at them and ran. They ran toward the train station.
Cotto said a police officer was at the train station and saw two males who matched the description leaving the train station in a car. He stopped them on Henry Street near Chestnut Street, Cotto said. He recognized Shaquille Johnson, 18, of 133 Monterey St., from previous incidents. Johnson and a 16-year-old teen were arrested.
Cotto said police did not find a knife in the car, and no one was injured. She thought it was a crime of opportunity.
The deliveryman's car was ransacked. He had the keys and said nothing was in the car. Westport police assisted with a canine officer, which was unable to track a scent, Cotto said.
The teens were charged with first-degree criminal attempt to commit assault, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery and first-degree robbery. Bond for Johnson was set at $25,000.
