The church will hold its last service at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, said News 12.

But the church is not disappearing into oblivion. Its faithful will join forces with Norwalk United Methodist Church to become the Cornerstone Community Church, News 12 reported.

Norwalk United Methodist announced on its Facebook page that the final East Avenue de-commission service for the old church will be presided over by District Superintendent, The Rev. Betsy Ott, followed by a picnic in the parking lot to celebrate the union of the two churches.

The first Sunday worship service of Cornerstone Community Church will be on July 3 at 10 a.m. in the air conditioned Fellowship Hall of the West Avenue facility (West Avenue at Mott Avenue).
