NORWALK, Conn. – About 100 roads throughout Norwalk remained blocked by downed trees, wires and debris Wednesday afternoon, but the number of power outages continued to drop, city officials said.

Roughly 49 percent of the households in Norwalk that receive electricity from Connecticut Light & Power remained without power as of 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to CL&P, or about 14,672. The number is up slightly from earlier reports due to additional neighborhoods falling off line on Wednesday.

Better than 95 percent of the households that receive power from the Third Taxing District and South Norwalk Electric and Water have had their electricity restored as of Wednesday afternoon, city officials said.

Norwalk Department of Public Works crews were working with crews from CL&P to restore power in the city, paying particular attention to areas in and around schools. As of early Wednesday, 12 Norwalk schools were without power.
