Yezzi has served as co-president of A Better Chance (ABC) in Darien since 2009. In 2007, she first joined the board of directors for the organization, which offers scholarship opportunities for young minority women.

“Though it takes a village to operate the ABC program, we know that it takes leadership, dedication and many hours of backbreaking work by those closest and most committed to ensure success,” Vyvyan Burns, former executive director of ABC Darien, wrote in a form nominating Yezzi for the Women of Distinction award.

“Jane, in her understated way, has led by example and has been one of the key individuals that helped accomplish so much for the ABC program.”

Yezzi has also run Person-to-Person’s annual Postal Food Drive for over 10 years. She serves as a shopper for the Food Bank of Lower Fairfield County, and trains other volunteers to perform similar service.

In addition, Yezzi is a member of allocations committee for the Community Fund of Darien.

“While many have described Jane as quiet and someone who prefers to work in the background, there is no doubt her leadership and dedication to her community is high volume and impactful,” YWCA Darien/Norwalk representatives wrote in a press release.
