Each kit included a hand towel, wash cloth, metal nail file or clippers, bath-size soap, toothbrush and six adhesive bandages. The items placed in the kits had been donated by church members in May. NUMC also donated $79 to UMCOR, so that toothpaste may be purchased to add to each kit.
UMCOR is a ministry of the United Methodist Church that serves needy people, no matter what gender, race, religion and/or sexual orientation.
NUMC is at 718 West Ave., across from the main library. It serves the community through programs like Open Door Shelter, Person 2 Person, Pivot Ministries, Sonshine Christian Children’s Center and Stitching Time After School Program, which is sponsored by PULSE.
Several organizations, like AA, Literacy Volunteers and Troop 19 of the Boy Scouts of America, also meet in the church.
Donations may be sent to NUMC, 718 West Ave., Norwalk, CT 06850.
