The Norwalk Seaport Association will be under new leadership as Wilton resident Tom Shrum takes over as president in the New Year. Shrum said he and his board would continue the group's mission of fostering public awareness for the area's maritime environment.
"All of our trustees, both current and new, have the knowledge, skills and dedication to help us achieve our goals in 2011," Shrum said in a statement.
He was elected Dec. 10 to replace John Lindgren, also from Wilton, who oversaw a successful year for the seaport group. One of Lindgren's goals for 2010 was to launch a new ferry, which it did without accumulating any extra debt.
Wilton will also have a stronger presence on the Board of Trustees as Dr. Marc Franks was elected for 2011.
The Norwalk Seaport Association, founded in 1978, is a nonprofit environmental, preservation and maritime educational organization.
